  • If you have not visited the Interactive Industry Museum in Gabrovo, we would advise you to do so at the first convenient occasion. It may sound boring, but we are sure the visit will make you laugh. Three virtual floors of the museum welcome you to a virtual guide. A beautiful lady dressed in typical clothes of the era will tell you interesting facts about the industrialization of the city with more than a hundred factories from the 19th century, socialism, and modernity. On the lower floor, in the basement, you can also watch a 3D movie about the sights of Gabrovo and the region. Each of the lectures takes about 6-10 minutes, and there are other surprises in the museum.

But let’s start with industrialization. In fact, it is the period of the glorious past of Gabrovo, which is not accidentally called the Bulgarian Manchester because of its over 160 factories and entrepreneurship of its inhabitants. Among the most famous were the textile ones, which retained their fame through socialism, albeit united. But that’s on the next floor. The virtual guides can tell you the history of Gabrovo in Bulgarian, Russian and English.

Like the fact that the investor in the first HPP in the city did not initially get credit from the bank. He had to threaten the bank boss to kill him, and then to commit suicide to get the loan. Still, instead of the prison, he found himself with money for his investment. The fun facts that the virtual guide tells are not one or two, but we will tacitly keep them secret for now so you can have fun when visiting the museum.

In addition to the beautiful lady who tells you about the industrial period of Gabrovo, you can compare the development of the city with that of the big cities in the world and in Bulgaria at that time. To do this, use a virtual wall that moves with just one handwriting. On the wall in the form of a virtual newspaper, you will see more facts about the city’s past and pictures. Among the exhibits are also objects and photos from the age. The next floor tells the story of Gabrovo during the communist and socialist period when the companies were incorporated and new factories were created. The textiles industry at that time is still leading the city.

In a curious way, you will learn how businesses evolve, what they produce, and new interesting facts. You can see exposed objects of socialism – cabbage uniforms, plastic products made in Gabrovo as a toilet board, or to scare by the sound of the exposed explosives. The third floor has information about modern Gabrovo and you can see pictures and cartoons. Visitors also can take part in an interactive game. They can choose one of three Gabrovo jokes and take part in their screening. Then finished videos are uploaded to a special channel and you can watch them as a memorial of the visit. Naturally, we won’t tell you what the jokes are so they can be still funny to you when you visit the museum.
